What is Blogsmith?
Blogsmith is the rapid publishing platform that powers this blog. Gavin and I built it 3 years ago in a small hotel room while working under the inimitable Brian Alvey.
It was originally developed to power the Weblogs, Inc. network of sites, which included Engadget, Autoblog, Joystiq, TV Squad and Cinematical.
Two years ago, along with Weblogs, Inc., Blogsmith was acquired by AOL, and now publishes sites like TMZ.com, Blogging Stocks, Asylum, and AOL Sports Fanhouse as well.
We've been building on, perfecting, and updating the system constantly in the meantime, and I think it's the single best blog publishing platform in existence. At this time Blogsmith is not available for licensing to publishers outside of AOL, but rest assured if that day comes I will be posting about it. In the meantime, you can see all the content coming through Blogsmith, worldwide, at blogsmith.com
